Moist played a few secret shows around Montreal, back in 1996, basically to test out their new material on an audience. The shows were either secret, (meaning people wouldn't know about them until 10 minutes before the show, and it was announced on the radio), or, they were playing a benifit free show in support of special cause. In total, there were about two such shows, and I was able to attend both of them; one being a show that was for winners at a local radio station. I didn't win tickets, but here's how I went: I was listening to the radio station that was giving away all the tickets for this Moist concert, trying to win, knowing that the show was about to start in an hour or so. I figured, maybe I can win at the last minute or something. So, I listened, and waited. . . About half an hour passed by, and I felt really crappy, because I hadn't won tickets, after so long of trying. But just as I was beginning to turn off the radio, I heard the announcer say in french, that anyone who wanted to come see the show, could, for free! Well, at that moment, I basically was in histerics, and completely thrilled. I called up every one of my friends who I could think of, who would want to see the show, and ALL of them either had something to do, or was already going out, or didn't really feel like going. . . Well, at that point I was like, "Well, who am I going to go with??". . . Time was running out, and I was getting seriously anxious about the entire thing, thinking, "Well, I guess I won't go. . It's not like I can go by myself". . and then I though, "Well, why not??". . So, I did. I ran into my mother's room, yelled, "LET'S GOOOOOO," and she drove me to Club Soda. She was so scared of me that night, simply because I was so excited, and happy! I knew that I would probably run into a few people that knew me from previous Moist shows, and I was right! I saw a few of my friends who were lucky enough to have won tickets, and I told them my story, and they were really surprised! So, we saw the show, which was really loud, and heavy. . .since it was in a really really small club, the sound was totally inclosed, and was very powerful and loud, which is totally awesome for a Moist concert! I stood the entire time in the front row, with my tape recorder in my pocket. . . in front of Jeff, who I had met earlier for the first time, along with the other guys. The guys performed many new songs that were to later appear on "Creature". . like, "Ophelia," "Theme From Cola," "Shotgun" and "Leave it Alone." It was quite exciting hearing these songs for the firt time, and knowing that we were some of the first people Moist played for, before the release of the new album!
